2017 Top 10 Things to do in the USVI

Every year we put together a list of the top 10 things to do in the USVI so we can highlight some of the amazing things the islands have to offer. And every year, it’s so difficult to choose who and what will make the list. Although it wasn’t easy, we feel pretty great about our 2017 choices!

This year we broke it down into 2 categories: Activities/Landmarks and Food/Beverage

Activities/Landmarks

The final adrenaline filled zip, called the Yo-Yo, is the only zip line of its kind in the Caribbean. Tree Limin’ Extreme is a perfectly blended cocktail of fun, adventure, and awe-inspiring views. Sore high up in the trees and learn about St. Thomas and all of the neighboring islands by your entertaining tour guides.

Name: St. Croix Ultimate Bluewater Adventures
Location: St. Croix
Website: www.stcroixscuba.com
Contact infoinfo@stcroixscuba.com | (340) 773-5994
Description:

St. Croix Ultimate Bluewater Adventure, better known as SCUBA (clever, right?), has divers from all over the world joining them for an experience they won’t forget. St. Croix and the rest of the Virgin Islands are known for their abundance of marine life, and SCUBA offers something for everyone!

Never gone scuba diving before? No problem, their hands-on diving training will get you certified in no time. Need to brush up on your skills? They have a class for that too!

They also offer tours to some of the most vibrant dive spots in the Caribbean. Night dives, ship wrecks, flourishing reef, SCUBA is a marine life lover’s paradise.

Name: Maho Bay
Location: St. John
Description:

One of the things that make the Caribbean a truly remarkable place to visit is the unbelievable beaches. Maho Bay is no exception! This picturesque spot has Instagramers saying “#nofilterneeded” and beach lovers around the globe drooling. You’ll love walking into the calm waters and lounging against the palm trees enjoying the beautiful view. If you make your way over to St. John, this is a beach you’re not going to want to miss.

Name: Frederiksted Pier
Location: St. Croix
Description:

Whether you want to dive, walk the pier, enjoy the views, or sightsee, Frederiksted Pier will not disappoint. This solid pier is a great place for families to hang out and spot all sorts of marine life on the dock, and even better for snorkelers or divers to explore. This spot is booming with some really fascinating creatures, so don’t forget your underwater camera!

Name: Annaberg Sugar Plantation
Location: St. John
Description:

Despite having a grim past, this plantation is set on some of the most gorgeous land on St. John. Take a walk through history as you tour the ruins and read about what was once a sugar plantation and now a protected landmark by the Virgin Islands National Park.

Even on busy days, there’s a sense of equanimity in the air. The views from atop the hill will have you in awe while the massive structures built in 1780s will have you speechless. It’s a compelling way to see first hand one of the most influential economic periods of the USVI and learn about the history of plantations in the territory, all the way to the abolishment of slavery.

Name: 99 Steps
Location: St. Thomas
Description:

While exploring the historic parts of Charlotte Amalie, you may notice an interesting set of stairs that go directly up the steep hill. Colorful Caribbean flowers grow lining this stairway that was crafted with bricks from Denmark as ballast in the hulls of sailing ships. If that’s not interesting enough, this set of stairs is called the 99 steps and actually consists of 103 (a little odd, we know). Don't forget to get a photo while you’re here as it is one of the most photographed landmarks in the downtown area!

Food/Beverages

Name: Pizza Pi VI
Location: Christmas Cove, USVI
Website: www.pizza-pi.com
Contact info: pizzapivi@gmail.com | (340) 643-4674
Description:

Pizza Pi VI is a truly unique dining experience! If you like an ocean view while you're dining, then you’re going to love this place! Not only is there a view of the cove, you are in the cove… floating on it to be more accurate (think of it as a food trunk on water). Located in Christmas Cove, this boat turned pizza joint has been making waves for foodies and water lovers alike!

The story behind Pizza Pi VI is pretty inspirational, and we all love a good story. A young couple found the perfect boat to float their dream, and took 2 and a half years to completely gut and convert it to what it is today. It was a risk that we are all happy they decided to take.

What’s just as exciting as the story behind Pizza Pi, is the menu itself. Even though this kitchen may be on a boat, that doesn’t mean their menu is limited. It has something for everyone, even for those who have food allergies and limitations. Visit their website for their menu and a little bit more about their unique story.

On July 29th, they closed up shop for a few months due to slow season. They open back up again on December 2nd.
